This is a mini five part series explaining the advantages and disadvantages for each of the two big ticket candidates and on the fifth pots, we will take about the winner of the election and what to expect.
Donld Trump has won the presidency. Not only did he win, but the Republicans also took back the senate and as of right now, they are on track to taking the house as well. This means the Republicans will have full control over all three branches of government if you want to count the Supreme Court as well which they have had control over for the past three years. Trump will be able to pass basically anything he wants into law with almost no barriers to stop him unless it is too radical that the house could vote it down. Now in the last few days, we have already seen Trump make some moves and appoint people into positions as he begins his transition into the White House. Trump has said that one day one, he will seal the border and he has tasked the job of “border czar” to Thomas Homan. Homan was the former director of Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) under Obama and Trump and has historically been very tough on immigration including having the highest numbers of deportations under his command. Trump has also vowed to veto any national abortion ban and to “protect women” and he plans to do nothing else on this issue. The state of the economy is where I think he really connected with voters and is a huge reason for why he won by helping Americans remember what their wallets looked like when he was in office versus what they look like now. It seemed Americans cared more about their wallets and the border this election than anything else that could have been said and that is where Trump had the upper hand. Kamala was also stuck fighting an uphill battle in which she had only begun her campaign run 5 months before the election and she wasn’t everybody’s first choice in the democratic party.
Trump says he will cut the cost of everything from cars to houses to insurance and supply chains and he wants results within his first hundred days (NBC news, 2024). While economists are mixed on the way he will do it with some saying prices will increase and other economists saying the opposite. After being elected, Trump had a phone call with President Zelensky of Ukraine and while we are not sure what they talked about. Trump said it was good and Zelensky tweeted to congratulate him and has full confidence and backing in Trump. Trump also released a video just a few days ago and in it he talked about his plans for addressing the transgender community in schools. “On Day 1, I will sign a new executive order to cut federal funding for any school pushing critical race theory, transgender insanity, and other inappropriate racial, sexual or political content onto the shoulders of our children,” – Donald Trump. We have known his stance on this for a while now and now we are seeing it start to get enacted upon.
